In 2012 the Australian Army developed a comprehensive guide to publications relevant to the study of the Profession of Arms and the Australian Way of War.

This printable guide covers everything from the study of military history, through the nature of war and the character of conflict, and to military innovations and adaptations.

I would like to suggest a book to evaluate "What went wrong understanding counter insurgency efforts IN TRME's" by Merton Gurcan. An interesting look at the problem at the tactical end for company and below. I was a platoon comdr with 7RAR in SVN and the book made me think again
