The Australian Defence Force is modernising rapidly, with emerging technologies and operating methods presenting opportunities to significantly enhance capability. To ensure this modern force is appropriately sustained into the future, the ADF’s logistics capabilities cannot afford to be left behind.
Therefore The Army Logistic Training Centre is looking for writers and multimedia artists who want to contribute to visualising the future of logistics.
Submissions can be works of fiction, live action or animated movies, or still images. Winning submissions will be published on the Army Logistic Training Centre SharePoint site and selected social media channels, including The Cove and Logistics in War. All submissions will be provided to the Future Land Warfare Branch of Army Headquarters for potential inclusion in concept development and experimentation. Rules and regulations: Topic - The topic of the work must relate to military logistics in support of a modernised Australian Defence Force. The future timeframe in which to set the work is 2025 – 2040. Entrant criteria - Entry is open to anyone. Submission criteria
- There are two categories of competition:
- Fiction competition:
- Short stories up to 1800 words in .docx/.doc or .pdf format. Submissions do not need to comply with the Defence Writing Manual.
- Multimedia - videos or animation up to 3 minutes in one of the following formats: .mov, .mp4, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg
- Imagery competition: Still images in either .png or .jpg format
- Fiction competition:
- One submission per entrant per category
- Submissions must be an original work by the entrant
- Entries must be written in English
- Videos that include speaking must be in English
Prizes: Fiction competition - $200 voucher to the literary outlet of your choice Imagery competition - $200 voucher to the imagery outlet of your choice Selected entrants may be invited to present their short story to the Land Forces Expo in Adelaide in September 2018 Prizes are only open to members of the Australian Department of Defence. The fine print: Submission implies the entrant’s consent to publication If a submission exceeds the length / size limit, it is ineligible All entries are judged anonymously. Judges will not be aware of entrant’s names, ages or other identifying information during judging Alterations to work will not be accepted after submission Due to the large number of submissions, we are unable to accept telephone or email inquiries regarding entries Organisers reserve the right to change judges without notice The judges’ decision is final
