'Military Leadership' via the Australian Defence Force Journal

According to author, Sir Francis Hasset, while there are many qualities that make a great leader, four stand out as particularly important to make a great 'military leader'. They are: courage, commonsense, initiative and mateship. Not only do leaders of all ranks have to possess these soldierly virtues, they also have to grow them in others. Sir Francis explains his rationale for prioritising these and explains how they apply to the various levels of command.
