The Cove’s annual writing competition plays an important role in both contesting ideas and informing ongoing modernisation initiatives within an Army in Motion. This year in particular was aimed at identifying opportunity for efficiency and innovation.
We had a diverse range of entries, each with a unique approach to meeting the competition guidelines whilst capitalising on the opportunity to discuss ideas of personal interest. The Cove have published a number of the entries in the last few weeks and can be found by searching for 'Writing Competition'.
Our panel of esteemed judges had the difficult task of choosing a winner. The key aspects considered by the judges were: quality of submission; originality of thought and practicality of implementation.
A reminder that the prizes are:
1st prize - a unique Professional Military Education opportunity (COVID pending) modelled specifically to meet the needs and interests of the winner
2nd prize - A two night stay in the Army Amenities Fund accommodation in either Coogee, NSW or Melbourne Docklands, VIC; accompanied by subsidised travel up to the value of $3,000.
3rd prize - $300 gift voucher to Booktopia
4th prize - $200 gift voucher to the militaryshop
And the winner is.....
Winner: PTE David Lotzof - Using data to simplify Army processes and regain time for training
2nd Place: MAJ McLeod Wood - Simplifying Army: Training Transformation at the sub-unit level
3rd Place: CAPT Pietro Ruggeri - An Artillery Brigade
