Colonel Brad Kilpatrick is an RAAC Officer who served as the Commanding Officer and Chief Instructor of the Officer Training College, ADFA from 2011 to 2013. He would later return to ADFA as the Deputy Commandant in 2019.

During his first command appointment at ADFA, he noticed something different about the trainees. A combination of integrity and behavioural issues compounded by a lack of motivation inspired him to undertake his own research on cognitive neuroscience and the educational psychology of the adolescent brain.

His speech highlights some of his findings and the tools that all commanders and instructors can utilise when leading junior soldiers and officers.
