Biography
Michael Scott and Dan Hamilton

Squadron Leader Dan Hamilton is presently deployed to the Middle East with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation as Chief Operations Officer, Observer Group Golan. The area of operations is notoriously volatile; therefore, comprehensively planned and rehearsed actions-on are a key enabler for building capability and resilience in the mission. Squadron Leader Hamilton first read “Fly” in 2018 during sub-unit command, and has since re-read, studied and strived to implement its key principles, including in his current deployed role throughout 2019 and 2020.

Colonel Michael Scott is presently deployed to the Middle East with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization as Deputy Chief of Staff (Deputy Commander). In October 2019, Colonel Scott assumed all military responsibilities in the absence of the Head of Mission / Chief of Staff, Major General Lund. At the time of writing, a new Head of Mission / Chief of Staff has not yet been appointed. In addition to his duties implementing relevant United Nations resolutions and mandated tasks, Colonel Scott led the UNTSO military response to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic in the five countries of the Mission Area; Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Israel. Colonel Scott benefitted from reading “Fly” in early 2020 and has drawn on many of the tips and lessons therein.
