Scott Winter AM is currently the Commander of the 3rd Brigade. His most recent appointment was as the CJ-5 Chief Future Operations at NATO HQ Resolute Support Mission, Afghanistan, where he was responsible for developing and advising Afghan operational planning. Immediately prior to this deployment he served as the Director Soldier Career Management – Army, where he was privileged to lead a great team focused on developing the soldiers and building the teams to win the next fight.
Scott is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy, the Royal Military College Duntroon and the United Kingdom Advanced Command and Staff Course where he was awarded the Thales Prize for the top overseas student. Academic achievements include a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English from UNSW, a Master of International Relations from Deakin University, a Master of Defence Studies from Kings College London and an Advanced Diploma in Foreign Languages. Scott is a graduate of ADF LANGS and speaks fluent French and Dutch.
In the 2015 Australia Day Honours Scott was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia for service to Army modernisation and career management.
