The August Offensive_Front cover

This book describes the August Offensive, or the 'Anzac Breakout' at Gallipoli which saw some of the bloodiest fighting since the landing on 25 April 1915. It explores how this devastating fighting was a result of a complex plan and overly ambitious objectives set for already fatigued troops with primitive communications and poor leadership. The fog of war was indeed a factor in this battle, and this book demonstrates the impact of not taking into account the tactical difficulties on the ground.
