The Battle of Bardia_Front cover

This book outlines the Australian 6th Division led assault against the Italian colonial fortress-village of Bardia in Libya. It was the second battle of the First Libyan Campaign, but the first battle of the Second World War that was planned and fought predominately by Australians. The fortress fell in two days, and it was described as a remarkable victory. It was, however, overshadowed by later desert advances, the failed Greek campaign and the war in the Pacific. This book brings Bardia back into the light in regard to tactical, operational and strategic settings.
