The Battle of Mont St Quentin-Peronne 1918_Front cover

This book charts the extraordinary journey from the trenches facing Mont St Quentin on 31 August 1918 to the frenetic phases of the battle until the objectives were taken on 5 September 1918. This story, often told through the words of the men themselves, describes the capture of Mont and the fortress town of Peronne. It describes the ground over which the battle was fought, examines the corps and what made them socially and structurally homogenous, and covers infantry firepower, tactics, training and discipline, as well as the tenacity of their German opponent.
