The Battle of Polygon Wood followed the Battle of Menin Road on the Western Front in 1917. Fought by the 4th and 5th Australian Divisions with the aim of taking Polygon Wood to then move towards Broodseinde Ridge. The attack was blindsided by the Germans. The battle was a success for the allies but only as a result of the desperate efforts of the 15th Brigade and a good deal of luck.
