The Battles of Bullecourt_Front cover

The Battles of Bullecourt involved Australian and British troops. The First Battle of Bullecourt marked Australia's introduction into the latest battlefield weapon, the tank, which failed dismally amid enormous casualties. Despite this, two infantry brigades from the 4th Division captured parts of the Hindenburg Line. The Second Battle of Bullecourt saw over 7000 casualties and was a hard-fought battle to capture and hold parts of the enemy line. It is questionable whether this had any strategic or tactical value to the First World War.
