An examination of the ethical problems that have arisen due to the rise of private military companies and contracted personnel in modern conflicts. This book provides an account of the privatized military industry and its broader implications, inclusive of how the business works, as well as portraits of each of the basic types of companies (tactical providers, military consultants and logistical support companies). The author highlights how the introduction of the profit motive onto the battlefield raises ethical, security and human rights questions.
