He is fascinated by exploration, is a road cycling tragic, Indonesian linguist, and an Associate Fellow in the Australasian College of Health Service Management. He was also recently appointed as a White Ribbon Ambassador.

Lieutenant Colonel Templeman joined the Australian Army in 1999 and undertook a degree from the Australian Defence Force Academy in Science. Lieutenant Colonel Templeman entered the Royal Military College – Duntroon in 2002 and graduated to the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police. Following this, he conducted regimental training in the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment and subsequently held multiple appointments in 1 MP Bn before assuming the role as its Commanding Officer in 2019.
