The Cove / AARC Short Thoughts Competition is now ended

A big thank you to everyone who submitted entries to this year's Short Thoughts Competition on Littoral Warfare. There was a wide range of topics, styles, messages and reflections across all the entries. The Cove will be publishing the winning submissions in reverse placing order over the next few days. Once winners are announced, we will be publishing our runner-up submissions on The Cove over coming weeks, so make sure you stay tuned for those.

About the 2024 AARC Short Thoughts Competition

This year, authors were invited to submit short written pieces (1000-1500 words) on the topic 'What is one way that you would see Army adapt in order to contribute to littoral warfare?'. Through this, we gained an understanding of the future character of war and the advancement of land power.

The judging panel from The Cove and Australian Army Research Centre (AARC) assessed all entries and selected the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Two honourable mentions were also awarded, the SO1's Choice, selected by SO1 PME, LTCOL Chris Johnson; and People's Choice, selected by all members of The Cove/AARC as worthy of a special mention despite not being in the top 3.

Thank you to all contributors, it was a tough field this year with many competitive entries, but ultimately a few submissions stood out.
