LTCOL Jacqueline Costello currently leads the Human Performance Optimisation (HPO) Team at Headquarters Forces Command. Prior to this appointment she has been the Commanding Officer of 1 Psychology Unit and OIC of the ADF Centre for Mental Health.
In her speech, she informed us of the current direction of HPO in FORCOMD and allowed us to understand what exactly HPO is. LTCOL Costello discusses the four domains of the HPO-enabled soldier, being: body, mind, teams, and tools. She explains it is one overarching synchronisation task to bring together a variety of disciplines to truly optimise performance with the ultimate aim of improving warfighting capability in teams. The aim is for soldiers to be more able to contribute to Army more of the time.
The presentation took place at the Human Performance Optimisation Symposium hosted by 1 Brigade at the Darwin Convention Centre on 16 September 22.
