Lieutenant Wood was born in Redcliffe, Queensland and completed secondary schooling North of Brisbane in 2010 before undertaking a Bachelor of Design at Queensland University of Technology. In January 2014 Lieutenant Wood commenced training at the Australian Defence Force Academy before attending the Royal Military College – Duntroon, graduating to the Corps of Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in 2018.
His first corps posting was to 20th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery at Gallipoli Barracks. During this posting he initially fulfilled the role of Technical Support Troop Commander in the ground workshop during 2019 before moving into the Combat Service Support Battery Headquarters as the Battery Captain. He has experience in exercise planning, fulfilling an operations function in his current role and enabling support to Regiment activities such as Unmanned Aerial Systems Ab-initio training, Force Generation exercises and more recently Operation Resolute. In 2021 he will post to Headquarters 16th Aviation Brigade as the Liaison Officer to Brigadier Hafner, CSC.
Lieutenant Wood holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of New South Wales, and is currently studying a Masters of Project Management through the University of New South Wales.
Lieutenant Wood is married to Rebecca, a Protective Service Officer in the Australian Federal Police, and they have two daughters. Lieutenant Wood is a passionate sportsman, playing soccer competitively for many years. He also enjoys motorsport (Moto GP), aviation, design, technology, and outdoors activities such as camping, fishing and 4x4 driving.
