Rob Lynch is an Australian Army officer with experience across infantry, intelligence and signals. He enlisted in the Australian Regular Army in 2008 and served for 15 years as a soldier, including postings within the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 1st Intelligence Battalion, Special Operations Command and Headquarters 3rd Brigade. In 2024, he graduated from the Royal Military College – Duntroon and commissioned into the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. He has since held a command appointment as the Signals Platoon Commander at the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, Australia’s Armoured Infantry Battalion.
Rob holds a Master of Terrorism and Security Studies from Charles Sturt University. His professional interests include military innovation, adaptability, organisational culture, and the development of effective teams. He is particularly interested in how Army can empower its people to challenge convention, experiment with new ideas, and adapt to the changing character of war.
Teamwork is not merely a cultural virtue but a warfighting capability in its own right – the bridge between war’s enduring nature and its constantly changing character.
