This book explores the protracted struggle of Australian troops to drive the Japanese out of Papua during the Second World War. The Japanese headed for Port Moresby, traversing the treacherous Kokoda Trail. The Allies and Australia recognised the danger this posed in terms of maintaining communication between Australia and the Allies. Ill prepared Australian militia battalions and AIF were sent into the jungle to face the invading Japanese. The overextension of Japanese supply lines and disaster at Guadalcanal cruelled the Japanese and were driven off by the Australians.
