Summary of Learning:
An understanding and skilful practice of cognitive and emotional empathy (including intercultural empathy) is essential to understand and improve human interpersonal relationships in the workplace, family and societal settings. This course will provide the participant with the ability to effectively apply empathy in these settings to assist in the development of group collaboration, creativity, problem solving, trust restoration and the identification and meeting of a variety of needs, as well application of cross organisational skills supporting interpersonal relationships
The Learning Objective:
1. Develop an understanding of the meanings of and differences between cognitive and emotional empathy
2. Develop an understanding of the role and benefits of strong emotional and cognitive empathy in the development of interpersonal relationships in the workplace, families and society.

The focus of the unit will be on adult cognition and explore areas such as the cognitive science of religions or other socially relevant considerations. This unit is aimed at students of all disciplines to develop understanding of cognitive processes and the various forms of recognised impairments.
