Communication techniques, structures, legal and ethical issues related to professional writing are developed. Students learn to evaluate, draft and revise a range of professional and technical communication using the principles of reader-centeredness, usability, and persuasiveness. This unit is for students of all disciplines to observe and critique the relationship of intercultural communication as it relates to learning, working, writing, and digital media.

This unit will review various types of communication and how and why these are used in different situations to produce different outcomes. By exploring how we communicate and reflect on our own media consumption habits to consider ways in which mass media influence communication. By exploring how we communicate, greater insight will be gained into human behaviour and a better understanding of our role in society.
