In this paper – Chess and the Modern Commander: Employing Abstract Strategy Games to Cultivate Intellectual Fighting Power, Tactical Acumen and Strategic Vision, the author explains that the Game of Chess is not merely an idle amusement. Several very valuable qualities of the mind, useful in the course of human life, are to be acquired or strengthened by it, so as to become habits, ready on all occasions.

As the vehicle was developed it retained its ‘armoured support vehicle’ features, but grew ‘light armoured fighting vehicle’ features. While using the Hawkei as an ‘armoured support vehicle’ is reasonably understood, using it as a ‘light armoured fighting vehicle’ is breaking new ground.
