Leon Young has over 20 years of military experience in operations and strategic policy development. He is a Chief of Defence Force Fellow and a Fellow of the World Future Society. Leon’s PhD dissertation is on the development of strategic thinking and his professional interests include quantifying risk through scenario development, futures education and strategic decision making.
Malcolm Beck from the Royal Australian Infantry Corps commands the 2nd/30th Training Group, a small cadre staff responsible for the delivery of jungle and field training to Australian Army Companies who are based at Royal Malaysian Air Force Base Butterworth for three month periods. He was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1995, joined the Australian Army in 2005 and has seen service in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Timor Leste and Afghanistan.
LT Marc Zanier is a combat engineer officer that has served for 4 and a half years in the Army Reserve. He is currently employed as a combat troop commander with 22 Engineer Regiment. He is a graduate of Monash University with Honours in Criminology, a Masters in Counter-Terrorism Studies and is currently in his final year of a Juris Doctor in law at RMIT.
