01 MARCH 2023

Today we celebrate Army’s 122nd birthday.

It is a day to recognise our Army’s long and proud history of service and sacrifice, made so by the some two million Australians who have worn our uniform since 1901.

We reflect on our many accomplishments, and pay tribute to those who have come before us.

We are a national institution, a profession and a fighting force, and we’ve been part of our nation’s history since Federation.

Our story gives us a strong foundation that strengthens our focus on our current missions and tasks while also shaping our future. And we are all part of the enduring story of our Army – united by a shared sense of purpose.

You live our values and demonstrate excellence every day; always on, at home and abroad.

You and your teams strive for excellence, and through your actions you make a positive influence in the lives of others. That’s what good teams do.

You are ready now and future ready.

To everyone across our Army – thank you all for your humility, commitment and professionalism in the service of our nation.

Happy Birthday Army, and best wishes for the year ahead – a year of opportunity.
