In conjunction with HQ 2 Div and the Randwick Barrack Officers Mess, this CoveTalk features Andy Maher talking on The Strategic Logic of Proxy Warfare. This CoveTalk was livestreamed at 1630h (AEST) on Thursday, 28 July 2022 from the Officers Mess in Randwick Barracks.
In this CoveTalk Andy discusses what proxy warfare is, the increasing frequency of irregular conflict, and the difficulties associated with analysing state and non-state relationships. He makes significant reference to the Russia-Ukraine War and explores Ukraine’s resistance operating concept and the wide-range of implications on international relations, warfare, strategy, and theatres of war.
Andy Maher is a University of New South Wales (UNSW) lecturer in Canberra as a Co-Course Convenor on the Theory of Special Operations and GRIM Threats (Irregular Warfare). He is a Visiting Fellow for UNSW CBR (HASS) and CSU (Terrorism Studies). Andy has worked with the Modern War Institute of West Point and Joint Special Operations University. He is also the Engagements Director for the Irregular Warfare Institute.
