To coincide with the Invictus Games, the October 2018 CoveTalk features Kate Philp, a former Royal Artillery officer who was the first British female soldier in recent operations to lose a limb in combat. In 2008, Kate lost her left leg below the knee after the Warrior that she was commanding in Afghanistan ran over a 50kg Taliban bomb.
In this inspirational CoveTalk, Kate shares her journey of overcoming adversity and building resilience as she recovered from her injuries and worked towards setting new goals and achieving new challenges. In Kate's case, this included skiing 335km across Antarctica to the South Pole.
As with all Cove Talks, the central presentation is followed by a Q&A which was open to all ranks across the Australian Army.
Please note, this presentation contains pictures of Kate's injury post-surgery that some viewers may find confronting. Also, it can only be viewed outside the DPN.
