David Nicholas is currently appointed as Regimental Sergeant Major of the 31st/42nd Battalion, The Royal Queensland Regiment in Townsville. Previous postings include all three Royal Australian Regiment battalions in the 3rd Brigade, the Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Moore, Georgia, United States; and he has instructed at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion and Warrant Officer and Non-Commissioned Officer Academy.
