This unit will explore the challenges and opportunities in capability requirements, force modernisation including training and equipment acquisition and defence industry in the future of global security. This unit will enable students to articulate the relationship between capability development to respond to domestic impacts such as disaster relief; and foreign threats. To describe capability needs in terms of organisational growth, and equipment modernisation and enhancement in protecting the state from domestic impacts and foreign threats.

This unit will investigate the dynamics of modern warfare – how can force be applied, what it can achieve, and its limitations. It will probe the intersection of politics and warfare; identify logistics issues, and the influence of technology on major combat. This unit is aimed at students seeking to establish a foundation understanding of military affairs in the modern context, the influence global politics and social movement in the international security environment.
