As part of the Building Partner Capacity (BPC) Seminar held on the 17th April, COL Mark Ascough presents the experiences of the Kabul Garrison Command Advisory Team and discusses Australia's role within a complex inter-agency environment.

His presentation highlights important considerations for developing 'Train, Advise, Assist' doctrine such as the need to understand: the history and structure of the organisation, the political and cultural environment and the priority of effort for both the host nation and our own. He also discusses the importance of establishing and maintaining relationships and accessing personnel with the necessary specialist expertise.
