Building Partner Capacity Seminar: Ms Deborah Jeppesen

As part of the Building Partner Capacity (BPC) Seminar held on the 17th of April, Ms Deborah Jeppesen from the Australian National University (ANU) Strategic and Defence Studies Centre talks about the personal attributes required to effectively advise foreign national security forces in Train, Advise, Assist (TAA) roles. She reinforces the importance of emotional intelligence, the need for cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the bigger picture.

Well done Ms Jeppesen! Your input is not before time and if only this idea that you are now putting into practice had been done years ago at the commencement of the involvement of our army in Afghanistan it would have saved a lot of soldier stress and psychological trauma both for the Australians and for the Afghan fighters as well. Keep up the good work.
