Leigh Crawford

Lieutenant Colonel Leigh Crawford is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College Duntroon and was commissioned into the Royal Australian Artillery in 1996. Lieutenant Colonel Crawford’s recent appointment as the lead military planner for the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and Latin America regions has also involved significant operational service with the United Nations in Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Cyprus, Tunisia, Libya, Mali and Kashmir. He was also selected to be deployed to Geneva as the Military Adviser to The United Nation’s Special Envoy to Syria during ceasefire negotiations in Apr 2016 and to establish a joint US/RUS/UN command centre to monitor violations. In his current appointment he is the Commanding Officer and Chief Instructor for the ADF Peace Operations Training Centre. This unit is responsible for UN accredited Peace Operations Training to prepare both ADF and international members for appointments on UN and regional Peace Operations.
