Across Army, there is a wide range of trades, specialties and career pathways, and for many it can be a long time between opportunities to practise and enhance our tactical skills. For those not actively involved in combat roles, often the only opportunity to intensively practise all-corps tactical skills are career courses, and it can often be around five years between those courses. Understandably, there is a lot of skill fade that can occur if you don't practise these skills or create chances to refresh your knowledge.
This video, produced by the Army Learning Production Centre (ALPC), provides a comprehensive explanation of the Offensive Support Battlespace Operating System (OS BOS). It explores the following:
- OS concept definitions
- OS employment considerations
- OS targeting process
- OS capabilities and planning data
- Target effects
The OS BOS contributes significantly to the destruction effect of enemy capability. It has a lot of technical elements which must be synchronized effectively and accurately with the manoeuvre plan in order to ensure safety to our own forces. The information contained in this video will enhance your understanding of how OS assets can be utilised in the planning and conduct of operations.
Watch the video to refresh your knowledge on the OS BOS in order to assist you with your next TEWT, and take a look at our other videos in this series to examine each of the individual BOS' in more detail.
