Australia's Battle of Long Tan
On the afternoon of the 18th of August 1966, in the pouring rain of a rubber plantation in Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam, just over 100 men of D Company, 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, faced wave after wave of assault from a force of more than 2,000 Viet Cong and North Vietnamese troops. The courage, resilience, and mateship shown at Long Tan ensured its place as one of the most iconic battles in Australian military history.
