Cameron is an Advisor to the Workers’ Compensation Regulator and former serving member of the Military Police. He is completing a Master of Laws at the University of Queensland (UQ), where he is also the chapter leader of the Australian Veteran Student Association (ASVA), an association that aims to assist ex and current Australian Defence Force (ADF) members gain access to study and succeed in that pursuit. Cameron has been active in assisting ex-personnel through a number of organisations since leaving the ADF.

In this article, our author explores the lasting impact of a traumatic event and their struggle to acknowledge its full extent. They look at some of the reasons why it can be difficult for those in the military to fully acknowledge the lasting impact that traumatic events can have but how they learnt the importance of finding ways to support themselves.
